Cristina Perez Gonzalez

An accomplished lawyer, television personality, radio host, business owner, community leader, columnist, and wife and a mother, Cristina Perez is a multi-faceted woman of the ages.

Cristina’s success is firmly based on her belief in the importance of family and culture. The daughter of Colombian parents, Cristina was born in the United States. She lived in New York City, to another big city of Guadalajara, Mexico, to the border town of San Ysidro, to Hartford, Connecticut, and then to California, which she has called home for over twenty years.

Cristina was exposed to all walks of life, cultures, and differing problems facing each community. She watched her parents struggle with racism, finances, and adapting to the U.S. culture with a foreign language and traditions. Today, she and her family are living an American dream.

Building on her layered and well-rounded background, Cristina became the enormously popular host of the Spanish language television program “La Corte de Familia” (Family Court) which aired nationally and internationally in fifteen countries on the Telemundo Television Network/NBC, Inc. The show re-enacted the courtroom drama of family law related claims. With a strong but just hand, Cristina provided a Latin flavor to the show which made it one of the highest rated Spanish language programs in the United States. Cristina was the first female Judge-Actress to air on a nationally syndicated Spanish network series.

The show appealed to viewers of all ages by celebrating the strength of the Latino culture and the importance of family. It also reminded viewers that people should not forfeit their culture and the great lessons learned from their ancestors. On the contrary, reliance on these great lessons is a key ingredient for success in life. Cristina utilized her television show to highlight issues that affect the Latino community and to raise the consciousness of the Latino community.

For over a decade, Cristina has dedicated herself to serving her community and is a prominent and successful attorney specializing in immigration and nationality law. She founded Perez Gonzalez, A Professional Law Corporation, where she focuses on assisting foreign professionals in the entertainment, athletic, technology, business, and investment fields. Her clientele includes high profile professional athletes, entertainers, business and corporate executives.

Armed with the life changing lessons learned from her immigrant parents, Cristina is a leader in the community and is committed to community awareness working to make a difference in her community at every scale. She is an active member and leader of several community and legal organizations, including Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), the American Immigration Lawyer's Association, the American Immigration Law Foundation, the Mexican American Bar Association.

Cristina frequently speaks at events around the country on topics such as immigration law, business, women and community empowerment, and women’s health. She is frequently featured on radio and television. Cristina serves as a weekly Immigration Attorney Co-Host on Radio UNIVISION in Los Angeles, California.

Cristina was recently selected as a “Woman of the Year” for the state of California for her community activities and was named one of America’s Top 10 “Latina Advocates,” for making the world a better place for women and Latino’s rights by the national magazine LATINO LEADERS (National Magazine of the Successful American Latino).

Overall, Cristina has worked to make a difference in her community unknowingly breaking through the stereotypes and misconceptions of what a Latina is or should be. As an attorney, a community activist and the star of a popular television show, Cristina is a powerful role model for young women in our community and particularly for Latinas.

Cristina received a Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law and two Bachelors of Arts degrees from UCLA. She is married to Christopher Gonzalez, who is also her partner at Perez Gonzalez, and has a daughter, Sofia Daniella. Naturally, Cristina is bilingual in Spanish and English.

With her unique and well-rounded background, Cristina credits her family’s example and desire to remain close to her heritage and culture for all of her personal and professional achievements.
